Slow motion samurai

For this game everyone must get out their samurai swords!(arms) Rules you must always move in slow motion or be smite by the bow of justice, (the leader of the game "has" this) if someone touches you with their sword your dead, if your sword touches someone else's you're both dead, a samurai never walks away from a fight. Samurai, fight!
Dolphin training

age: 8- 1,000,000

Pick one person to be the dolphin, and send them out of the room after giving them their dolphin name.have the rest of the players decide on a fairly simple motion for the dolphin to preform. (touching part of his body, moving to a certain place in the room) When you have decided bring the dolphin back in the room. the way you must get the dolphin to perform the action is to say beep when he does something close to the action that is all you can say.

Example:
the dolphin is supposed to jump. The dolphin bends his knees, you beep, dolphin sits, nothing, dolphin stands, beep, bends knees, beep, jumps, you cheer!

Streets and allies

ages:8 and up

Pick 2 players one to chase and one to be chased. then divide the rest of the players into groups. have each group stand in a line (all the lines should be parallel and everyone should face the same direction)******** Something like that. have each person in the group put their arms out to the side. ******** when players are touching people in their group it is streets, then if you say allies they must turn 90 degrees and touch players in the other groups. The players chasing and being chased must run through these streets and allies. You may call streets or allies to make it more difficult for them.

It is a really good arm exercise for the groups.

One voice

age: 10 and up

Everyone stands in a circle and will count in unison to 30. Sounds pretty easy but it takes concentration. Every time you come to a number which is a multiple of 3 say the number then clap once. (in unison) Every time you come to a multiple of 5 clap twice after saying the number. When you come to multiples of 3 and 5 clap three times. If you mess up the group must start over.

Cheat sheet! {number(claps)}

3 (1),5 (2),6 (1),9 (1),10 (2),12 (1),15 (3),18 (1),20 (2),21 (1),24 (1),25 (2),27 (1),30 (3)

Kitty wants a corner

age:8 and up

Everyone stands in a circle with one person in the middle being the "kitty." The kitty walks up to one of the circle members and says kitty wants a corner, this person can respond by saying go ask my neighbor or yes. If the person says go ask my neighbor the kitty asks the next person in the circle. While the kitty's back is turned two circle members can try and switch spots. The kitty must try and get a spot in the circle, whoever is left in the middle is the kitty.

If the person says yes, then everyone in the circle switches to a new place and whoever is the last person in the circle is the kitty.

Rock, Paper, Scissors, Anything!

Age: 8 and up

The name is almost the only part of this game that is anything like rock paper scissors. Here's how to play.

Have all players sit in a circle, pick to players to play the first round. The two players stand back to back and pick anything in the world to be their"thing". Once they have picked the players in the circle say rock paper scissors anything. When they say "anything" the players in the middle must turn around say their "thing" and do a motion for it. Example, one player says tornado and spins around, the other player says Chuck Norris and does a karate chop. Players in the circle then vote for which thing they think wins. They can be serious or funny. The player whose "thing" won stays in the circle the other sits back down and a new challenger comes in the middle.

It's a very fun game and no one is ever really out.

Weenie Man

age: anyone who will sing it

This is not a repeat song. *shock* Anyway here goes:

Sit in a circle criss cross apple sauce, and tap your knees then the knees of the person on your right then yours then the person on your left's. It helps to keep everyone the same pace when you speed up. then on the"weenie weenie weenie weenie" part hit the floor in front of you each time you say weenie.

I know a weenie man
he owns a weenie stand
He sells most everything from hot dogs to buns
One day I'll join his life
I'll be his weenie wife
Oh how I love that weenie ma-a-an
Weenie weenie weenie weenie

Faster!

Boom Chicka Boom

Age: anyone!

If you haven't heard it Boom chicka boom is a really cute song. Here's the basic format (other players repeat each phrase):

I said a boom chicka boom
I said a boom chicka boom
I said a booma chicka rocka chicka rocka chicka boom
uh huh
oh yeah
one more time
(blank) style!

You can fill in the blank with an already made up style or make up your own on the fly.

Version for pre-k
Have them repeat you doing the basic then ask them for styles and make up words for them.

Example: "dresses style!"-little girl
isaid a swish chicka swish
i said a swish chicka swish
i said a swisha and a twirla and i'm pretty chicka swish
uh huh
oh yeah
one more time....

version for school age and older
Let them lead styles they already know or if they want to make one up.

For more styles check out my other post

Character Hats

Age: anyone!

This game encourages creativity. Divide into teams, the bigger the teams the harder the game is. (I suggest teams of five at least to start) Each team is given an interesting hat. Each person on the team must come up with a different character who would wear the hat. The hat is passed down the line of players and each player says a line as the character they have chosen. If characters are similar or don't relate to the hat players can be asked to try again or start over with a different hat.

2 down, 3 up

Age:8-8,000,000

This game depends on listening and focus. Five people stand in a line with their eyes closed. Any other people should sit silently and watch. the five must try to have two people kneeling and tree people standing at all times. Without speaking or opening their eyes.

There aren't really any other rules or instructions, just keep your eyes closed and kneel or stand when you think you should. It's a very interesting game to watch.

1,2,3,4,5,6,PASS!

Age: 9-9,000,000

This game focuses on listening to the people around you. It's best played sitting in a circle. The person starting says one, the person sitting next to then says two and so on. You continue this way until you come to a number including a seven, or a multiple of seven. In place of those numbers you say pass.

Here's an example 1,2,3,4,5,6,pass,8,9,10,11,12,13,pass,15,16,pass,18,19,20,pass,22,23,24,25,26,pass,pass.....

If some one either says a number that should be passed, or says pass on a wrong number that person is out. Another option is to start over every time someone messes up and see how far you can go.

Cheat: Here's a list of "passed" numbers
7,14,17,21,27,28,35,37,42,47,49,56,57

If you get much higher I applaud you.

Princess Pat

Ages: 4-400,000,000

This is a really fun call and response song. I give the motions that I use but of course do whatever you want.

Princess Pat, ("walk like an Egyptian" to both sides)
lived in a tree, (put arms up)
she sailed across (move one arm like a wave in front of your body)
the seven seas, (hold up seven fingers, then make one hand into a "c" shape)
she sailed across (same wave)
the channel too (put both arm straight in front of you, then two fingers)
and took with her (clasp hand and put arms down then over your shoulder)
a ricka bamboo (do the "twist")

A ricka bamboo, (twist)
now what is that, (put arms out one at a time)
its something made (tap fists together like "hand jive")
by the princess pat, (Egyptian)
its red and gold, (bring arms up slowly)
and purple too, (put one hand out, and your other on top)
that's why it's called (cup hands to your mouth)
a ricka bamboo (twist)

Now the captain Jack, (salute)
had a mighty fine crew, (salute three more times changing hands each time)
he sailed across (wave)
the channel two, (arms in front, and two fingers)
but his ship sank (hold your nose and wave your other arm above your head)
and so will you (point to actors)
if you don't take (put arms down then over your shoulder)
a ricka bamboo (twist)

A ricka bamboo, (all the same)
now what is that,
its something made
by the princess pat,
its red and gold,
and purple too,
that's why it's called
a ricka bamboo

Now Princess Pat (Egyptian)
saw Captain jack, (salute)
she reeled him in ("reel in" fishing pole)
and brought him back (arms down then over your shoulder)
she saved his life (wipe your brow)
and his crew's too (salute three times)
because she had (cup hands to your mouth)
a ricka bamboo (twist)

A ricka bamboo, (all the same)
now what is that,
its something made
by the princess pat,
its red and gold,
and purple too,
that's why it's called
a ricka bamboo

Fish/ Bees

Ages: 4-8

Gather actors together ask them if they see what you see, what? A bunch of fish/bees swimming/flying right above your heads! Tell them they should all catch one, and hold it tightly so it can't get away. Ask them to peek in at their f/b and see what color it is. Then tell someone next to them what color it is. then ask then to whisper and ask their f/b what it's name is, and to share what he says with the group.

Then tell them that your f/b is talking to you, "listen to it" for a minute. then tell them that your fish said they are magic fish and that you should swallow them. (you do) Then act like there is a f/b flopping/flying in your (right hand, left hand, right foot, left foot, and belly) and let it lead you around the space. Then spit out your f/b.

Then on the count of three toss your f/b back up with the others.

Shake Out

Ages: 4- 400,000,000

Gather all actors into a general space but with enough room to move. Tell them that you are going to shake your right arm eight times, then your left, right leg and left. Then you are going to shake them 6 times, them 4, then 2, then all at once. Depending on age you can get increasingly faster.

Magic Crayons

Ages 4-8

To begin stand actors in a circle and tell them in the middle is a pile of giant magical crayons. And on the count of three you want everyone to pick up one magic crayon. (they're really heavy so be careful) ;)

Tell them that they should turn to the actor on either side of them and tell them what color their crayon is. Then tell them to take a big bite out of their crayon. Go around the circle and share what everyone's crayon tastes like.

Next say that they should stick their crayon on top of their head and drawn big circles on the ceiling. Then you can drawn on different places with different body parts (draw on the floor with feet, drawn on your neighbor with elbows, draw circles in the air with your hips)

Well you need to hide these magic crayons somehow. Tell them to put their crayons on the floor on stomp them into a million pieces. Well now there's a big mess, there are three ways to clean up magic crayons. You can use a mop, eat it all up, or roll it all up on your clothes.

The Moose Song

Ages: 4-400,000,000

The way I begin is by asking all of the actors to stand in a circle, to say what I say (they echo), and do what I do (I do a little dance they copy)

First verse(they repeat after every line) :
There was a moose (hands on head like antlers)
He liked to drink a lot of juice (act liking drinking juice)
(repeat first two lines)
singing whoa oh oh oh (star with your fingers interlocked and your hands on your stomach, make a large circle with your hands)
way oh way oh way oh way oh(keep fingers locked and do a wave with your arms)
waaaay oh way oh(fingers locked make a medium and a small circle with your hands)
way oh way oh way oh way oh(another wave)

The moose's name was Fred (make antlers then make your thumbs and pointer fingers into a rectangle and put the rectangle on your shirt like a name tag)
he liked to drink his juice in bed (pick up your cup then put your hands together and lay your head on them like your sleeping)
(repeat)
(repeat "way ohs")

He drank his juice with care (drink with pinky finger out)
But he got it in his hair (mess up your hair)
(repeat)
(repeat "way ohs")

He's a sticky moose (touch yourself like you're sticky)
And now he's on the loose (run in place)
(repeat)
(repeat "way ohs")
